Save the Books: Confronting a Culture That No Longer Reads
Thursday, February 20 at 7 PM Eastern Time
Presenter: Brian Wasko
Parent Webinar
Studies continue to show a steep decline in reading over the past several decades, particularly with young people. In the battle for time and attention with social media, gaming, and the ubiquitous screen, books just can't seem to compete. Professors at top universities complain that even the best students won't read books anymore. If this trend doesn't bother you, it should. Fortunately, homeschoolers are in a unique position to reverse this tragic trend. Join me in this discussion of the important counter-cultural act of reading books.
Registration is required to attend. A recording of the webinar will be emailed to everyone who registers.

Stef will leave time for a Q&A at the end of her talk.

Homeschooling in the Rearview: Reflections on My Homeschool Journey
Thursday, March 13 at 7 PM, Eastern Time
Presenter: Melanie Wasko
Parent Webinar
I'm street smart enough to know that you don't presume to be an expert on homeschooling while you are still in the midst of it. That's why I waited until my four daughters were grown up, doing well, and making a difference before offering my perspective on twenty years of homeschooling.
I still don't presume to be an expert, by the way, but I have spent a lot of time looking back over the years and have some advice--both philosophical and practical--for those who are in the thick of this exciting journey. I even interviewed my daughters and will share some of their thoughts on being homeschooled.
Please join me to learn what I'm glad I did and a couple things I'd do differently if I could.
Registration is required to attend. A recording of the webinar will be emailed to everyone who registers.

Yes, students need social studies credit to graduate and receive college admission, but why not give them a way to pursue the credits while preparing them for the world beyond High School?
Discover together how History and the other Humanities can become labs for students to exercise and expand their logical reasoning abilities and how students can prepare to understand how they can impact their world.
Registration is required to attend. A recording of the webinar will be emailed to everyone who registers.
