How WriteAtHome History Works
Approach
Our High School History 1-4 courses pair with our High School Lit 1-4 courses, providing students with a great overview of literature and history from each era.
We also offer a conventional high school history track that provides a flow similar to what students would study in a typical high school, including two social studies courses: government and economics.
WriteAtHome offers a Middle School American History class which is good preparation for high school history.
Expectations
All students are given a reading assignment, a discussion post, and a quiz to complete each week prior to the live class session with the teacher. In some courses, students will also be expected to watch a recorded lecture before class.
Delivery
Our history courses include a live session via Zoom once per week to discuss the week’s lesson with the teacher. Many of our history courses are also offered as self-paced versions which do not include the live component.
Studying history is not just rehashing the past. By learning how the past shapes our world, we learn how better to engage our present. Students will be challenged to involve their logic and imagination, to distinguish cause and effect, to clarify motivation and action, and to discern ideas and events in history.
