Adventure on Another Planet

This creative assignment is a science fiction story that takes place on another planet.

It can be a love story, a war story, or a journey story. Any kind of story at all, as long as it takes place on another planet.

Think through your characters. Do they include aliens? Who will be your hero/protagonist? To keep the story short, focus on a small number of characters only. Three or four will probably do. It’s better to have a small number of developed, interesting characters than lots of characters we don’t really get to know.

Think about the setting. When does it take place? What does the planet’s environment look like? How does the setting influence the plot?

Think through the plot. What is the problem that needs to be solved? What events lead up to the climax? How is the problem finally resolved? Is it a happy ending or a tragic one?

Include dialogue. Having characters speak helps the reader know and care about them.

What’s your point of view? Is your narrator a character in the story (first-person)? Or is the narrator just a voice talking about events happening to others (third-person)?

Keep your story simple and include enough description of the places, people, and events to make the story come alive to your reader.

Suggested Length: This paper will likely be three to five pages. But don't worry about length. Just tell it the best you can.
